What we do best!
SolShine Stand Up Paddle Yoga classes are traditional Yoga classes taught on the water on floating boards on ST John USVI. Your mat is a stand up paddleboard; the ocean is your studio and all the elements have been invited – sun, wind, water.
SolShine SUP yoga + fitness is the first venture to combine stand up paddle boarding and fitness on the beautiful island of St. John. We take the concept of stand-up paddling and incorporate a wide range of fitness, including all levels of yoga, low-impact core strengthening, intervals, and race techniques.
Our students will enjoy learning while adapting to the motion of the board, the continuous challenge to balance, and the focus required to ground while afloat. Our classes have a strong focus on increasing core strength, and flexibility. Standing up on a paddleboard gives you a unique perspective of both the water and the horizon. We will focus on using the prana breath for taking in the beauty of St John's natural surroundings.
Our classes cater to all levels, from those with no prior yoga or SUP experience to serious practitioners of both. Each lesson begins with a brief shore-side lesson on the basics of paddling followed by a guided paddling warm up. Each board has an individual anchor that is dropped before the Yoga portion of class begins so that the student does not drift away while focusing on their practice. Students are taken through a Yoga flow with customized and detailed instruction for the SUP board so even if they have not been practicing yoga for years, or if they have never been on a SUP board, they will be able to follow along with no problem. Safety is our number one priority. We provide ankle leashes and life jackets upon request. The instructor is within a 20 ft radius from all students. Our instructors are CPR and First Aid certified, and have many hours of experience on the water.

- Gentle Flow : A gentle SUP yoga class, with a slow flow comprised of restorative poses, focusing on using the breath and proper alignment.
- Salty Flow: A playful yet challenging SUP vinyasa flow class with inversions and arm balances.
- Core Flow: Fitness class comprised of Pilates and yoga poses targeting the abdominal section for a stronger and healthier core.
- Yin Yoga: A Yin class is design to work with cold muscles allowing the stretch to go deeper into the connective tissue. These classes are comprised of a sequence of poses mostly targeting the hips.

Thais has a wonderful energy. We had 3 private yoga classes during our trip to St. John - 2 mat classes and 1 SUP class. Our first mat class on the beach outside our villa the day after we arrived was perfectly curated to account for a long travel day the day before. The SUP class was challenging but fun and our last mat class built on our other 2 for a great experience. I would highly recommend Thais and Solshine SUP yoga.😊
